An adventure of past times, in a new guise, just a few kilometres from home.
The Via del Sale (Salt Road) is an ancient route that connects the Po Valley to the Ligurian Sea crossing 4 regions, once used for the transport and trade of salt, a fundamental element for food preservation. Travelling along this historic route today is like stepping back in time, through the unspoilt scenery of the Apennines where it is easier to meet deer and roe deer than other human beings.
The meeting point is Tortona, from where a shuttle service will take us to Caldirola, a renowned ski resort in the Val Curone: from here our fantastic adventure begins, through forests, breathtaking ridges and small villages crystallised in time. In the evening we will rest in tented camps and warm ourselves around the fire. After 3 days of walking we arrive in Sori, where we can finally take a refreshing dip in the sea before returning home by train.
Unlike other similar experiences, all you have to think about here is having fun, taking only the bare minimum with you… we’ll take care of the rest. Your luggage will be carried from one stage to the next by our staff, who will also make sure your tents are ready when you arrive and prepare your dinner and packed lunch for the next day.
For the occasion we will also have an exceptional tracker: Gian Francesco Galanzino, winner of the World Championship of the 4 Deserts in 2006, the first man in the world to run in one year 1000 km in the 4 most inhospitable deserts in the world.
